Josephine Bolfo is called “Signorina” by all who know her. At just over 80 years young, the owner of Hotel Le Fontanelle is also its heart and soul. She and her family originally chose Chianti to realize their dream of running an elegant hotel which would warmly welcome visitors to this region of Tuscany and provide a feeling of living in a home away from home.
Now, Hotel Le Fontanelle is proud to introduce their new mascot in the likeness of “Signorina” Bolfo: Pinuccia! In addition to sharing a name with the beloved hotel owner (Pinuccia is a diminutive form of Giuseppina, the Italian form of Josephine), the doll physically resembles Ms. Bolfo. The brainchild of the hotel’s owner, Pinuccia will follow in the footsteps of “Signorina” to share the stories of the hotel’s successes with guests and followers on social media. She is so enthusiastic about her new companion and representative that she has procured fabric for the creation of Pinuccia’s wardrobe to match her own.
“Signorina” Bolfo has influenced both the design and the atmosphere of Hotel Le Fontanelle since its initial development. She attends to the details of its decor but just as importantly she is happy to meet with hotel guests to tell her story and the story of Hotel Le Fontanelle. The result is that visitors feel like they are staying in the well-appointed home of a friend, in keeping with Hotel Le Fontanelle’s philosophic goal of “the art of receiving in an elegant country residence to feel at home”. Indeed, there is nothing cold or impersonal about this five-star hotel in the beautiful hills of Chianti.
For those who have met her, Ms. Bolfo leaves a lasting impression of the place she fondly refers to as the “silent house on the hill”.
